Healthy Development of All Young Children
The future prosperity of our communities depends on the healthy development of all of our young children. Science tells us that the early years really matter because chidren's brains are shaped in an environment of relationships. The quality of those relationships has a profound impact on establishing a sturdy foundation for all learning to follow. A key ingredient in those relationships is the back-and-fourth nature between the adult and the child. When we help children build sturdy foundations, we increase their chances for future growth and success. When early childhood and after school educators have the professional education and skills they need to provide high quality learning environments, they promote the healthy development of children.
The purpose of the EPS WM is to support educators and providers in attaining these skills and the education they need to create successful outcomes for children.
Educators and providers in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire counties may receive support from the EPS WM in the following ways:
- Academic and Career Planning
- EEC Core Competency Development, CEU and College Courses
- Maintaining or Achieving NAEYC Accreditation
- Upward Movement on Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS)
- Leadership Development
- Coaching and Mentoring to support all of the above
As educators and providers build expertise and skills in these areas, they become better equipped to provide the rich environments that promote healthy intellectual, social and emotional growth that help today's children become tomorrow's leaders.
All educators must be included in the Professional Qualifications Registry to participate in professional development supported by the EPS grant. To register go to EEC's Professional Qualification Registry. PQ Registry
