Play, Positive Youth Development, and Great Relationships - Making the Difference in the Lives of Youth in OST Programs

Quality relationships between youth and supportive adults are fundamental to promoting positive youth development and the attainment of life skills such as self-management, goal setting, resilience and interpersonal skills. In this training participants will engage in activities that promote the development of life skills, identify the components of the PYD instructional model: activity-based, mastery-driven environment, empowering youth and continuous learning, and develop a plan to utilize the PYD instructional model in their programs. The overall training will be a combination of activity-based learning and lecture to increase their comprehension of the theory behind this PYD approach.
