A successful educator engages children in many exciting activities and experiences to help keep them focused and motivated. Inevitably, we encounter children with disruptive behavior that puts a damper on the smooth running of a classroom or program. This training will help you learn skills to minimize the disruption and improve the overall atmosphere of your classroom or program. We will learn about helping children to develop self-regulation, developing effective classroom rules, behavior management strategies, teaching social problem solving skills for a group or individual children, and responding to difficult behavior and physical aggression.

This training is designed to help you think deeply about how to build effective, positive partnerships/ relationships with families in your programs. We will examine what you are already doing, and using self-reflection and collaboration, think of ways to enhance these methods. We will have a particular focus on what kind of information can be shared as a tool for building trust and collaboration. Beginning with this concept we will move into ways of communicating and involving families in the program. Come join us for an interactive training that will help stimulate your family relationships.

Join us for a fun and interactive training that explains the benefits of focusing on the process rather than the product in art. We will have a chance to experience some art and discuss how what we learned applies to our programs. Group discussions will allow participants to hear about other’s art experiences with children. Pictures and videos will highlight a variety of art projects. Participants will leave feeling a renewed sense of inspiration about offering open ended art to the children in your program!

“Small differences and improvements in daily teacher-child interactions result in real differences in child outcomes. Studies show that the effectiveness of early teacher-child interactions positively impacts children’s cognitive development, with the effects lasting through the 3rd grade. The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) dimensions are based on developmental theory and research suggesting that interactions between children and educators are the primary mechanism of student development and learning. Effective teacher–child interactions are an active and crucial ingredient for children’s social, behavioral, cognitive and academic development and outcomes." - Robert C Pianta. This training will inform participants of the structure and the motivations of the CLASS tool. This training will guide participants through key elements of mindfully creating high quality instructional formats and intentional curriculum development. Participants will focus on the quality of their interactions with children, practice constructing mindful and in depth scientific inquiry and explore how to engage in high quality feedback and advanced language modeling.
