Using Observation Skills for Planning and Assessment

Participants will explore how observations and documentation are key in assessing children’s interests and development, and how to plan curriculum accordingly. Through presentation, readings, video clips, discussion, and interactive exercises, participants will learn techniques and strategies for doing effective observations that are free of bias and judgement. In addition, participants will learn how to take the information from observations to assess child progress and develop a curriculum plan for individual and group experiences that supports learning and development.
